Braun Thermoscan 7 Ear Thermometer IRT 6520

The Braun Thermoscan IRT6520 is a digital ear thermometer for the whole family. Fast and easy to use. 
The IRT6520 replaces the IRT4520 and has a new design, is more ergonomic and now has the display facing the parent taking the temperature of their child, which provides an easier reading. The display is larger than on the predecessor IRT4520.
A novelty of the IRT6520 is Age Precision - a color coding for the display that helps interpret the temperature for different ages. The Age Precision setting is available for three age ranges: 0-3 months, 3-36 months, 36 months-adult. (See picture.)
The thermometer has a preheated tip to give a more accurate result. The memory stores the last 9 measurements so you can follow changes in temperature.

Why do you measure the temperature in the ear?
An ear thermometer measures the infrared heat emitted by the eardrum and tissues of the ear. Measuring the temperature in the ear is a good way to reflect the body's core temperature because the eardrum shares blood circulation with the control center of the brain, the hypothalamus. Therefore, changes in body temperature appear earlier and more accurately in the ear than elsewhere.
