Semper Fluid Replacement + is a unique fluid replacement with Lactobacillus reuteri Protectis® and zinc.
With diarrhea and vomiting, the body loses fluid, salt and nutrients. The natural bacterial flora of the intestine can also be disturbed and make the stomach uneasy. The nutrients in Semper Fluid Replacement + with bacterial culture are quickly absorbed by the body and restore the salt and fluid balance, while the lactobacilli remain in the stomach and intestines.
If your child suffers from fluid loss and is under 6 months or seems abnormally tired, does not want to drink or does not urinate, you should always contact the health care advice, BVC or your health centre. Large fluid loss in young children can quickly worsen an illness situation.
Semper Liquid replacement + can be used from two months and up. Osmolality: 220 mOsm/kg H2O. For restoring the salt and fluid balance in mild and moderate acute diarrhea and vomiting.
For adults and children from 2 months.
Dietary advice for mild and moderate acute diarrhea and vomiting in children:
Children under 2 years of age
Children who are breastfed should generally continue to breastfeed, preferably more often than usual.
For children who are not breastfed, as well as children who have severe diarrhea and vomiting, supplement with fluid replacement. Follow the advice below:
- Day 1: Provide fluid replacement for the first 4-8 hours, approx. ½ dl/kg body weight. In case of vomiting, feed by teaspoon. Then continue with the child's own breast milk substitute, baby porridge or gruel approx. 1 dl/kg body weight during the day. Give small portions of puree if the child wants and normally eats puree/food.
- Day 2: Continue with breast milk substitute, baby porridge or gruel approx. 1 dl per kg of body weight. If the child has continued diarrhea or vomiting, supplement with liquid replacement ½ dl after each bowel movement. If the child is 6-8 months old, try giving regular food. Feel free to mix a little extra fat into the food. However, be careful with foods that contain a lot of whole grains as they can cause loose stools.
- Day 3 and beyond: If the child continues to have diarrhea or vomiting, continue as on day 2. If the child has become more alert and eats with a decent appetite: continue to give the child's usual food, even if the stool is loose. However, still be careful with coarser grain products.
- Day 4: Contact BVC or a doctor if the child has deteriorated or continues to have profuse diarrhoea.
Children from 2 years:
- Day 1: Give fluid replacement for the first 4-8 hours, approx. 10 dl. In addition, give the child's usual gruel, yogurt or other similar milk products, possibly with a little sugar. However, be careful with whole grain foods that can cause loose stools. Give small portions of food if the child wants.
- Day 2: Give the child regular gruel, yogurt or other similar milk products, possibly with a little sugar. If the child has continued diarrhea or vomiting, supplement with liquid substitute/liquid. 1-2 dl of liquid after each loose stool. Also give regular food if the child wants it. Feel free to mix a little extra fat into the food. However, continue to be careful with foods that contain a lot of whole grains.
- Day 3 and beyond: If the child has continued diarrhea or vomiting, continue as on day 2. If the child has become more alert and eats with a decent appetite: continue to give the child's usual food, even if the stool is loose. However, still be careful with coarser grain products.
- Day 4: Contact BVC or a doctor if the child has deteriorated or continues to have profuse diarrhoea.
